After-school Quran program

Al-Kitab Quran School

Embark on a journey to understand and memorize the Holy Quran. Our dedicated teachers and comprehensive curriculum provide an enriching learning experience for all ages.

Tuesdays & Thursdays One hour per class
More than a class

Building faith that travels with them.

Al-Kitab connects Islamic learning with the everyday reality of growing up Muslim in Canada—so faith becomes something children understand, live, and love.

Our Vision

Grounded in faith. Confident in Canada.

We work with parents to nurture Canadian Muslim youth who feel a strong sense of belonging, are grounded in their Islamic identity and values, and contribute positively to the diverse society around them.

Our Strategy

Learn it. Understand it. Live it.

We connect Qur’an and Sunnah with Islamic Studies, character development, and the situations children face at home, at school, and with friends.

Our Four Pillars

What your child experiences every week

Every class, term, and activity is built around these four promises.

01

Confident Muslim Identity

“I know who I am, and I’m proud of it.”

We help children speak about Islam with confidence and explain what they believe in clear, age-appropriate words.

In class

Stories of the Prophet ﷺ and the Sahabah, simple aqeedah, and practical discussions about questions children hear at school.

At home

Your child answers questions about Islam with confidence instead of embarrassment.

02

Know Your Deen

“I can read Qur’an, I can pray, and I know right from wrong.”

A clear foundation in Qur’an, worship, Arabic, daily du’as, and the essential manners and rulings every child needs.

In class

Qaida and Qur’an recitation, tajweed, Arabic, short surahs and du’as, plus the practical fiqh of purification and prayer.

At home

Steady reading progress, salah performed correctly, and du’as used in everyday moments.

03

Character & Real-Life Skills

“I act on what I know — at home, at school, and online.”

Every lesson connects knowledge to akhlaq: honesty, kindness, patience, respect, and wise choices in real situations.

In class

Age-appropriate conversations about friendships, peer pressure, screens, anger, bullying, and standing up for what is right.

At home

Better manners, better choices, and a child who can explain why those choices matter.

04

Belonging & Community

“This is my community, and I want to be here.”

Children build Muslim friendships, feel at home in the masjid, and develop a lasting connection to their community.

In class

Team-based learning, seasonal events and competitions, Ramadan and Eid activities, and social nights throughout the year.

At home

A child who asks when the next class is.

Setting Clear Expectations

We’d rather be honest about what two hours a week can and cannot do. Please read this before registering.

What Al-Kitab Is

  • A part-time, after-school program: Tuesdays and Thursdays, one hour per class.
  • A foundation program — the basics of Qur’an, salah, character and identity, taught well and taught consistently.
  • A partnership with parents. What we start in class needs to be continued at home.
  • A place where your child builds Muslim friendships and feels connected to the masjid.

What Al-Kitab Is Not

  • Not a hifz program. We are not aiming to produce huffadh in two hours a week.
  • Not an ‘alim/scholar track or a full-time Islamic school.
  • Not a replacement for learning at home — we support parents, we don’t replace them.
  • Not daycare. Attendance, punctuality and respect for teachers are expected.

Realistic Outcomes by the End of the Year

With regular attendance and support at home, in shaa Allah your child will:

  1. 1

Move forward in Qaida or Qur’an reading with improved tajweed.

  2. 2

Know how to make wudu and pray salah correctly, with a few short surahs and everyday du’as memorized.

  3. 3

Be able to explain the basics of Islam and answer common questions with confidence.

  4. 4

Show stronger character — manners, honesty, respect — and have real Muslim friends at the masjid.

How Parents Can Help

  • Send your child on time every Tuesday and Thursday, consistently — attendance is the single biggest factor in progress.
  • Review for 5–10 minutes at home on non-class days.
  • Pray with your child at home so salah becomes normal, not a class topic.
  • Ask your child one question after each class: “What did you learn today?”
  • Talk to the teachers. Tell us what’s working and what isn’t.
